Cantor Victor Geigner

Cantor Victor Geigner was born in Buenos
Aires, Argentina, and began his vocal career in 1982 at the age of 16.
His education in the art of the Hazzanut, being a cantor, was initiated
through classes with several experienced Argentinean cantors. He also
attended the Seminario Rabinico Latinoamericano's Cantorial School in
Argentina , supplemented through vocal and lyrical training with several
professors of vocal music . His beautiful voice touches the heart s of
all who hear it during the High Holidays, Shabbat and other services.
During his first 20 years as a cantor
Geigner worked on the staff of some of the most important synagogues of
Buenos Aires, training hundreds of children for their Bar and Bat
Mitzvahs. More recently , Cantor Geigner was the Executive Director of
the Israeli Community of Cochabamba, Bolivia, where he worked with
children and youth education , along with his wife Shirley, an artist.
In Bolivia, he acted as Cantor, Rabbi, Teacher, and guide , serving as
the only advisor for the whole Jewish community. He also taught 22
Bolivian adults the required religious course for Jewish conversion.
He came to the United States for High
Holidays 2004 and was hired by Temple Judea in Fort Myers , Florida as a
Cantor and Religious School Principal.
Victor loves to use traditional Jewish
melodies and modern Hazzanut during religious services. He has performed
in several cantorial concerts throughout Argentina, Chile, Bolivia and
Paraguay, where he performed songs in Hebrew, Italian, Yiddish and
Spanish.
Victor Geigner joined Temple Emanuel in
Passover 2008 and was hired to serve as our cantor, sharing the bimah
with and assisting Rabbi Fox. After Rabbi Fox 's untimely death in
September, 2008, Geigner agreed to stay on as Spiritual Leader of Temple
Emanuel .
Cantor Geigner enjoys his duties,
including teaching Sunday school as the head of Temple Emanuel's Hebrew
School. His wife Shirley works with him , planning and carrying out
activities and art projects for the school and for the adults of the
Congregation.
Cantor Victor Geigner is the proud father
of Mijal Nathalie.
